ODS Analysis (Operating Deflection Shape) is a technique that uses the information captured by sensors relative to vibration and deformation in order to show how a mechanical vibration system is deformed in operation.

ODS analysis allows us to visualize any deformation and bending of a mechanical system for each of the individual frequencies present in the level of vibration of the system under study. The composition of the deformation showing the different parts of a structure or machine is obtained from the relative movements captured by different sensors installed at key points on the unit being  tested.

Determining how each of the different components vibrate under operation is extremely useful to understand the involvement and influence of each, at different frequencies, in solving the problem of vibration.  The information thus obtained provides relevant information when considering reinforcing a structure, evaluating the condition of the bolting or foundation of a machine, etc.
